operational deflection shape analysis
below is the operational deflection shape of a paper machine press section at 18 hz. the pickup roll and first press is at the upper left, and the transfer roll and second press are toward the lower right.
as you can see, the source of the vibration is the first press. due to the design of the structure, the vibration of the overhung pickup and transfer rolls is amplified.
